Bacteria Analysis
Microorganisms, especially bacteria, are found in all oilfield production systems. Their introduction to the systems may either stem from injection fluids in EOR fields or from drains and sumps aboard offshore facilities. Bacteria are particularly troublesome in production systems due to their metabolic processes that instigate corrosion and, in some cases, gas souring. Oracle offers several different methods of identifying and quantifying bacteria in oilfield fluids and solids.
Serial Dilution
Bottles can be inoculated from sampled fluids in the lab and recorded in accordance with TM-0194-2004. Already inoculated bottles can also be sent in for observation.
ATP Testing
Bacteria enumeration through Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) quantification.
Bacteria Sequencing
16S and qPCR DNA sequencing can be utilized to identify the presence and quantity of problematic bacteria families. Samples are subcontracted through a partnered laboratory.
